Cultivating Relationships: Working with Policymakers for Healthier Corner Stores
For local government partners who support healthy retail initiatives
Corner store advocates around the country are exploring how to work with local government to incentivize and sustain healthy changes in small stores. In some communities, that means developing new policies; in others, local leaders are redirecting existing resources to support healthy corner store work.
This webinar provides an introduction to local government partners who could support healthy corner store initiatives (such as economic development, planning and elected officials), descriptions of policy and program strategies you might explore, and examples of places that have successfully used these tools to support small healthy food stores in their communities.
Speakers include representatives from the City of Baldwin Park in California, Community Healthy Councils, and ChangeLab Solutions.
Additional Resource: The Healthy Corner Stores Network (HCSN) has tools, case studies, and reports on innovative projects from around the country.
