As 2024 comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for our community of supporters and partners who helped our team advance high-impact, community-centered solutions to systemic health problems. ChangeLab Solutions released more than 50 trainings, publications, and resources, collaborating with organizations across the country to deliver evidence-based legal and policy tools to support local communities. I’ve invited a few of my colleagues to share their favorite publications of the year; take a look at their top projects.
Publications of 2024: Staff Favorites
"One of my favorite publications is Confronting Misinformation, a guide that provides actionable ways to address a critical public health issue: a massive increase in misinformation and disinformation. Given misinformation’s direct impact on health outcomes and equity, which was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, it's important for public health practitioners and community leaders to understand this issue and begin to grapple with how to address it in their communities."
—Sabrina Adler, vice president of law
"For me, some of the most important ChangeLab resources of 2024 were our reports on expanding the behavioral health workforce to support children’s mental health. We know that there is an ongoing mental health crisis among our children and youth, so it is crucial to have policies to increase the number of behavioral health providers who can offer evidence-based, culturally responsive care. The policies in these resources have the potential to deliver meaningful improvements in care for future generations."
—Becky Johnson, vice president of strategic partnerships
"Justice on the Menu is one of my favorite publications this year because it translates complex ideas into actionable insights for community leaders and food system changemakers. This guide uses a community-informed policy scan to address deeply rooted issues in the food system and also offers practical principles for addressing structural discrimination. And we've received overwhelmingly positive feedback about the guide from our partners in the field of food justice!"
—Kimberly Libman, vice president of policy
"Supporting Equitable Community Engagement is one of my top resources of 2024 because it emphasizes the importance of listening to community members, shifting power back to communities, and working closely with them to develop solutions to local public health challenges. We used this guide in an interactive training for local health department staff in California, explaining four roles that state health departments can play to support equitable community engagement. Participants were very engaged and appreciated the chance to discuss how local and state health departments can show up and improve their efforts in the roles of leader, investor, expert, and connector."
—Iyanrick John, vice president of external affairs
We look forward to connecting with you in 2025 to offer resources, policy options, and partnership in service of your community health goals.
