General Event Information

Q: Is Accelerating Policy Change in California’s Central Valley a single-day convening? How long will it run? Will it be in person or virtual?

A: The convening is one full day with approximately six or seven hours of content. It will be held in person, with no virtual option. For more details, see our agenda.

Q: Who should attend Accelerating Policy Change in California’s Central Valley?

A: This convening is for public health practitioners, government staff, community and business leaders, and health care professionals who want to deepen their skill set for advancing local policy change.

Q: Will there be a recording of this convening available afterward?

A: No, we will not have a videographer on site at this convening, although our staff may take some photos of the presentations. Copies of worksheets and other materials will be made available to attendees after the convening.

Q: Will you be holding Accelerating Policy Change convenings in other locations?

A: ChangeLab Solutions is in the process of outreach and planning for convenings in other regions across the United States. To stay informed about locations and dates, please subscribe to our email list and connect with us on LinkedIn.

Q: Why is this convening important to my work?

A: Through our work with community leaders, local institutions, and local and state governments, we’ve found that legal and policy barriers often impede efforts to advance shared community goals. Our Accelerating Policy Change regional convenings are designed to empower and connect local changemakers with information to support them in addressing these barriers. We will build shared understanding of the law and policy process to help partners make effective, lasting improvements in the health and well-being of their communities.

Q: What can I expect to gain from the convening?

A: Through a day of interactive sessions, small-group activities, and inspiring panel discussions, attendees will learn strategies to help them overcome legal and policy barriers to systemic change. They will deepen skills on reading and understanding relevant laws and involving community members at each step of law and policy development. Attendees will develop action steps so they can immediately apply the material from the convening to work that serves their community.

This convening is also an opportunity for participants to connect with other changemakers in their region, learning from and with each other. After the convening, attendees will receive a certificate of completion and a resource guide that includes links to important resources shared during the day.

Q: Is there any pre-work for this convening?

A: No pre-work is needed for this convening! We do have some pre-convening assessment questions that are included as part of registration. You may also be interested in watching The Power of Local & State Solutions, the first webinar in the Accelerating Policy Change series.

Q: What materials and resources will be available for attendees?

A: On arrival, attendees will be provided with a folder of printed worksheets and other materials to use during the convening sessions.
