Healthy Planning Guide
Strategies to promote healthier communities
The Healthy Planning Guide provides a broad overview of development strategies for healthier communities.
The guide links health risks (poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, etc.) to particular aspects of the built environment, highlighting policies to consider and specific “action steps” for public health professionals.
We developed this guide in collaboration with the Bay Area Health Inequities Initiative as a companion resource to Partners for Public Health, which describes the many public agencies that make policy decisions affecting aspects of the built environment, and outlines the structure and decision-making process for each agency.
